How to Get Verified on Binance in 3 Easy Steps

Like all exchanges, Binance uses a know-your-customer (KYC) validation process to verify you before you can begin trading.

If you’re worried about this verification process, or you’re not sure what to expect, then keep reading, as we explain the exact steps you need to take.

1. Create a Free Account on Binance

Binance first registration

Getting verified on Binance starts with a free account. If you already have an account, you can skip this step. All you need is an email address, and you’ll create a new password here, so make sure it’s a good one.

Start by visiting Binance.com and pressing the big yellow register button on the top right of the screen. Fill in your email address and the password, making sure to agree to the terms and conditions. Once complete, choose Create Account. You’ll need to complete Binance’s captcha, but providing you are not a robot, this shouldn’t be too difficult.

Next, check your email inbox. You need to verify your email address to start using your new account. This is an easy process, and you only need to click a link in the email sent to you by Binance.

Make sure to verify your email address quickly. If you leave it 24 hours as I did, then you may need to start the process again. Fortunately, Binance will re-send their email if the first one expires.

Once registered, you can move on to the next step—account security!

2. Configure Binance Account Security

Binance 2FA

Before you can verify your identity you must add a two-factor authentication (2FA) method to your account.

While it’s possible to perform basic tasks on this exchange without a 2FA method, Binance takes account security seriously, and won’t allow you to verify your identity without a 2FA method. By visiting the dashboard, or when logging in, Binance will prompt you to complete a 2FA configuration.

You have the option to skip at this stage, but you must complete this to perform any serious tasks on Binance. You have a choice of the Google Authentication app or SMS authentication.

Binance SMS verification

SMS authentication is very simple. Enter your phone number, and type in the code Binance text you. That’s it. For the Google Authentication app, you’ll need to scan the QR code, and then back up your access key. Binance provides helpful links to Google Authenticator downloads for both Android and iOS devices. Once enabled, return to the dashboard.

3. Verify Your Identity on Binance

Binance wants you to verify your identity, so there is no shortage of prompts and links to do so. Navigate to the security page, by selecting one of:

  • The Increase your account security box in the middle of the page.
  • The Security tab from the top navigation bar.
  • The Identity Verification button next to your email address in the middle top of this page.

Once on the security page, choose Verify inside the Identity Verification box.

Binance personal vs enterprise verification

The first step is to choose between personal or enterprise verification. Unless you’re creating an account on behalf of a company, then choose personal.

The Binance identity verification process consists of four steps, which are neither difficult or troubling. In theory, you could complete these in as little as five minutes. Binance provides a helpful status bar indicating your progress so far, and the number of remaining steps.

The four stages to identify verification on Binance are:

  1. Personal Info
  2. ID Info
  3. Facial Info
  4. Passed

Each step is easy to complete, and then you’ll soon be the proud new owner of a verified Binance account!

Personal Info

This is a really simple step. Enter your first name, middle name (if applicable), last name, and date of birth. Binance even provides a helpful date picker for your convenience.

Next, enter your address, including Zip code and country. Choose Begin Verification when you’re ready. If you failed to complete any fields, or there is a problem with your information, the page will inform you of such.

ID Info

This verification stage is an automated process. You need to upload your government-issued identity card (such as a passport or driving license). You can take a new photo with your webcam at this stage, or use an existing photo.

You’ll then need to upload a photo of your face. Again, this can be an existing photo or you can take a new one. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s clear and unedited—no Instagram filters allowed.

Once both images are uploaded, Binance’s automated system will check the details on your identity card, and compare your uploaded photo with that on your identity.

If successful, you’ll move on to step three. If you are unsuccessful, Binance will prompt you to restart the process. If you cannot complete this stage, then make sure you use high-quality photos, taken in a good light. Images should be sharp and unedited, and all the text clearly visible on your ID.

Facial Info

This final step requires the Binance app. While there are options to complete this process on your desktop computer, they rarely work, and Binance themselves recommend you use the app.

Binance app QR code

This process is easy to complete, but you may need to try several times before you get a successful attempt. You don’t need to use your account to do so. From within the app, choose Account from the bottom right. Select Scan, and then point your camera at the on-screen QR code.

You need to take a selfie by following the specific on-screen instructions. This mainly consists of aligning your face with the on-screen overlay and blinking or slowly turning your head.

Once you’ve completed this step, Binance’s automated systems will attempt to identify you. If successful, you will now have a verified Binance account!

If your verification was unsuccessful, then there’s no reason to panic. Binance will tell you what the problem is, and this is often due to low image quality. Try taking your photos with a better quality camera, or choose a location with better lighting, such as outdoors during the day.

If you’ve changed significantly since acquiring your government-issued identity card, you may need to contact Binance support or use a newer form of identity card.
